valentine's day Carbon/Silicon @ Free Yr Radio Tent - 14 March 2008 (SXSW Day 3, Pics)

valentine's day valentine's day Mick Jones made an appearance at SXSW, and it wasn't as a figure of distinction at some fancy panel as you might suspect. Nope. Instead, he was out in full suit on a 95 degree day performing with his latest post-Clash venture, Carbon/Silicon.

What can I say about the show? Hmm...it was...hot outside? It was really cool to see Mick Jones in person? Oh, you wanted to know about the actual music? Right right, well, let's just say Mick's best days as a masterful songwriter may be behind him. Look, I hate to sound pissy and judgmental - especially towards someone of his stature who I respect immensely - but I couldn't help but be wholly disappointed by Carbon/Silicon's music, both lyrically and musically.

"Here's another one about global warming," seemed to be the resounding stage banter prior to every song, except for the one where he mentioned being inspired by Soylent Green. Really, Mick? Your muse is now a 70s film about eating people? The song title in the MP3 after the jump kinda says it all...
