The Robicellis are having the Best. 2011. so far. Yesterday their cupcakes were on The Today Show and this Saturday they will have a pop-up shop in Soho. The pop-up will be open from 11am til 6pm, this Saturday only.
To celebrate being named New York's Best Cupcake of 2010 by the readers of both Serious Eats AND Midtown Lunch, and to bring the Chicken n'Waffles cupcake that was featured on the Today Show to the hungry public, Robicellis will be holding a one-day pop-up this Saturday January 8th at Open House NYC at 201 Mulberry Street between Spring and Kenmare.
"Chicken n'Waffles":vanilla "waffle" cake, vanilla buttercream, buttermilk soaked fried chicken dipped in pure Vermont maple syrup
"El Melecaton de la Muerte": Peach-ghost chili cake & buttercream with peach-chili compote
"The Iona": Pear-olive oil cake, blue cheese buttercream, candied walnuts, port wine reduction
"Pecan Potato Chip": Pecan potato chip cake, vanilla buttercream, crushed potato chips, chocolate drizzle
"Car Bomb": Chocolate Guinness Stout cake, Jameson whiskey ganache, Bailey's Irish Cream buttercream
This is coinciding with the opening of PARK HERE in the space, an indoor park space. From Eater:
"NOLITA— From January 7th to the 30th, Park Here, a pop up event, will take over an empty white box of a space on Mulberry Street. The space will include an indoor park with trees, grass, and food carts. An organizer explains, "We've curated a unique schedule of events, programming will include yoga in the mornings, open-to-the-public lunches with street vendors selling their delicious cart foods, and then foodie-oriented events like movie nights on the lawn and an UrbanDaddy pop-up dinner series."
