New to us in 2011 are cupcake classes and the first one we are holding will be on Saturday 5th February 2011. Space is limited, we want to keep classes to 5 people maximum, so please hurry in booking your place.

This cupcake decorating class makes a wonderful early valentine's day present or gives you time to practice making our own before the big day. Either way it's a great way to spend a couple of hours doing something you love!

Firstly, Merry Christmas to all our readers celebrating today! We'll be posting, even though most cupcake bakeries are closed today (good for them)!

A friend visiting Alabama was raving about the cupcake bakery Dreamcakes, which I know Nichelle has tried. I haven't had their cupcakes and have no plans to visit Alabama, but I am digging their Facebook page, where these photos (and lots more!), including the children's "Cupcakes Make People Happy" t-shirt, are from. And they've got a Tumblr.

valentine's day How to make a giant cupcake with Wilton's Giant Cupcake Pan

Wilton has a post up about using their giant cupcake pan to make cupcake cakes, aka giant cupcakes. A snippet:

I’m all about being economical so don’t throw away the leftover cake! It can be used in parfaits or topped with ice cream and chocolate sauce.

After the layers are leveled, add a thin layer of icing on the top part of the bottom half of the cake. This acts as an adhesive that holds the two pieces in place. Stack the top cake on top of the bottom piece. Feel free to trim any excess cake off.

Giant Cupcake PanAs an alternative, you could flip the bottom half of the cake over so it is upside down (prior to attaching the top layer) to make a fantasy fairy house or dog house.

Free mini cupcakes tomorrow, Saturday, December 4th, at Teacake Bake Shop, at all their shops (Emeryville, Lafaytette, Corte Madera) to celebrate their 5th anniversary!
