valentine's day VERY IMPORTANT QUESTION

The Jetplanes are attending a semi formal on Saturday. I am wearing a black cocktail dress and I want to wear these heels.valentine's day valentine's day Lovely, yes?

Is it okay to wear open toed shoes, sans stockings, in February to an event...

Discuss amongst yourselves....

valentine's day Hello...Hello...Hello...

There you are...sorry I am been an MIA blogger the past couple of weeks, that was not my intention.

But it also wasn't my intention getting sick either. Today's post, unfortunately will be a random, I mean REAL random.

1. While sick I visited the Flight Doc on base. My doctor was quite a hottie and a former fighter pilot...it is not fun to talk about your bodily functions with a cute, young doctor, while dressed like homeless person with dirty hair, no makeup, and then realizing you aren't even wearing a bra...oh yeah...nice. Yes I left the house without a bra on, but in my defense, I was really sick and had on 2 shirts, a hoodie, yoga pants, a scarf, coat, and a hat...yeah homegirl was freezing her bootie off.

2. In about 30 days we will find out where we are moving to. The arrow is pointing to Idaho. Cue all the jealous now... I spent last night looking at houses for sale in Idaho.

3. I'm happy to report that I gave up online shopping for Lent and I haven't caved yet!!

4. This is currently on repeat on my computer and in my head....

5. The Jetplanes are going to a semi formal on Saturday. I'm recycling a black cocktail dress and sporting my Blue Bow Knock off Valentino shoes. Our squadron color is blue and I'm suppose to integrate that into my outfit. I'm worried I might not be dressed up enough, but oh well.

6. Also I've joined Formspring.me. You can ask me anything and everything you ever wanted...and do it anonymously if you so wish....

Happy Hump Day!

valentine's day What do YOU think?

About these new guidelines for mammograms?

I'm in the high risk group so I believe that these 'new' guidelines don't apply to me. That being said, my mother was proactive and found her our breast cancer from a self exam. She located a very small growth (Stage 1) and is now cancer free. She is only 49 and falls into the age group they are focusing in on.

My mother is having her reconstructive surgery from her double mastectomy* next Monday in St. Louis at the Siteman Center. I'm going to make it a point to ask for their opinions on these new guidelines and I'll let you all know.

*That may seem like a bold step due to Stage 1 however, breast cancer runs in our family and the type of cancer she has an extremely strong chance of reoccurring in the other breast. After the operation and the pathology on the tissue, they did find that cells in the other breast where starting to form, so it was the best option for her.

So what our your thoughts on the new guidelines??

valentine's day Getting Deep on This Monday Morning...

Hello all and Happy Monday, if that's even possible. Busy Bee, I am yet again...

So this weekend we got the low down on yet another mil couple we know that are getting divorced.

The circumstances are crazy and too ridiculous to actually detail but it involves the following:

Cheating, Commanding Officers, divorces, and kids...

Its wayyyyy more colorful than that but still... it leads me to the following question particular for the mil couples out there...

We (and the military) expect more from officers in the military. Our husbands'/wives' bosses demand a certain level of integrity and ethics in each one of them. Therefore I expect the same in their spouses.

So to all out there... what does it mean to be wife (or husband) to someone in the military. And what does it mean to be an Officer's Wife (Husband)?

I get asked that question a lot, and to be completely honest... I don't really know. But I do know it doesn't mean cheating with someone else's husband and ruining their career in the process.

UPDATE: This isn't an enlisted vs. officer thing. I don't wear my husband rank or anything like that. Its more what does it mean to be the wife of a man in the military? The military is new to the Jetplanes and there are expectations and demands that one wouldn't consider.

I know several men that have been given notices that will not allow them to get promoted, lost top secret clearance, kicked out of the military, etc. for doing things that if happened in the civilian world wouldn't affect their jobs.

If these men/women act a certain way in the personal life they, in some people's eyes, aren't viable leaders in the military. At first it seems too harsh, but after some thought I generally agree with their decisions.

So again... this IS NOT an enlisted v. officer wife thing. I only know one point of view, but I know if I do certain things in my personal, professional, and/or financial life, it very well could have an affect on my husband's career.

valentine's day Oh Sookie... you're so fine, you're so fine... you blow my mind...

valentine's day

Well... let me tell you I finished Dead and Gone on Friday night. And I had a mix of happiness and sadness. I was happy that I finished the book and sad that it was over. I love the Bon Temps world and all the crazy characters that inhabit it. The book was good... not great, but very good. And you want to know the best part.... Eric, oh Eric... I heart you and want you and Sookie to end up together.

I'm not going to give anything away, but I will tell you that you get to learn more about Hotshot, the Fae community, and more about Sookie's family history. There's a mysterious death of a 'person' close to Sookie, the Weres come of out the closet, and a new war is brewing in the supernatural community. My only complaint is, I did feel some of the story lines could have been drawn out a little more. But in general I really enjoyed the book.... and Eric...ok so might be a little obsessed with Eric.

Now... I'm going to open the conversation to Twilight v. Sookie Series... Yes, I've commented that this series is much better than Twilight and I firmly stand behind that statement. Sorry all you Twilight lovers, but its true.

**The next statements are the opinions of Mrs. Jetplane and Mrs. Jetplane only...

Twlight

valentine's day

I found Bella incredibly annoying in the first 2 books. I found her incredibly needy and co-dependent. I say this as an almost 29 year old woman, but I found her completely immature which would make sense, since she is a teenager. It left me thinking... OMG was I that needy and annoying in high school, I'm pretty sure the answer would be YES!

I found Meyer's writing style annoying at times. I felt used some words over and over, and I became noticeable.

I found it disappointing that her fight scenes were extremely short. She would write pages after pages go into specific detail about some things, and then in the culmination of a battle it would get like 5 pages....very anti climatic for me.

FYI - I got Mr. Jetplane to read them as well... he agreed.

P.S. Yes I love Edward and Jacob. P.S.S. I'm very concerned about how they are going to make the werewolve transform in the movie, since I thought the glittery skin in the sun stuff was complete crap.

Sookie Stackhouse Series

I enjoy the fact that it is ADULT. Read all that you want into the word...ADULT...this isn't PG13 honeys...

Sookie is an incredibly strong young woman. You respect and admire her as a character. She doesn't need a man, even though she does get quite a few.

The stories bring you into a whole new supernatural world, and with each book you learn more and more about the 'people' and societies that walk upon this world.

Its dark but humorous all at the same time.

And the books aren't crazy long.

NOW --- to wrap this up. Yes, I read all the Twilight books. Yes, generally I like them, but I'll be honest... I HATED New Moon. I had to push myself through it because I wanted to read all 4 before the movie came out. Do I honestly believe that the Sookie series is better, yes I do. That is my personal opinion... so please no mean comments. I know you crazy Twilight fans.

But I do feel as an adult, I found Sookie was more appealing to my sensibilities than Bella.

So what's the peanut gallery have to say about it....

valentine's day Free at Last...

The Jetplanes house guests left this morning. I was in the shower, so I didn't get to say good bye, but Mr. Jetplane assures me that they said "thanks". He spent the next 30 minutes cleaning house before he left to work out.... he's quite a man, that man of mine. love him...

We tried to go out to eat last night to a Thai place but we found out its closed on Mondays, is that weird?

Moving on.... Mrs. Jetplane is swearing off shopping for the rest of the month because her commission report for March was craptastic to say the least.... the very least. It was bad.... My commission is based upon my accounts billings for the month and the clients payments for the month. My billings look fairly normal right now, but my payments are LOW... anyway, I have stop spending money... which sucks because I have great BR coupons burning a hole in my pocket and Mrs. Nonsense posted her BR shopping spree and I want that shift dress she bought... (this is me stomping around....)

Anyway, I have a couple random thoughts that I wanted to throw out there for people....

1. Is it weird to salt food before even tasting it? It could be salty already right? How do you know it 'needs' salt?

2. Did anyone watch the Hills? What's wrong with LC's makeup at her party? Heidi and LC should win an Emmy for their 'performance'. Spencer and his flesh covered beard, looks to have parted ways....

3. Has anyone heard of Berry Wine? We drove to 4 different stores looking for Berry Wine... The only berry wine I know is Boone's Farm, but I was told that's not it. They finally found some Blueberry Merlot at the Winn Dixie liquor store, I chose not to drink it.

Happy Tuesday... and a big THANK YOU to all your support these last few days. XOXO

valentine's day Mr. Jetplane coming at ya...

valentine's day valentine's day Picture of Mr. Jetplane and my Maid of Honor Dr. W (yes she's really a Dr.)

Well hell has most definitely froze over, Mr. Jetplane has entered into the blogging world. You have asked, and I have talked him into answering. I sent him the questions via email, and I was on the phone when he opened the email.

He was like "What are these questions? Why do people want to know about me?" Well he's answered them, in his own unique, sarcastic way. And they are as follows...

What went through Mr. Jetplane's mind when he first saw you on your wedding day? Wow, this is actually happening and she looked beautiful.

What did he want to be when he grew up when he was 8 years old?

Probably ruler of the free world, I don’t ever remember wanting to be one thing, always wanted to never limit my options.

Where does he see the 2 of you in 10 years?
Probably be in either DC or in a fighter squadron finishing up my second ops tour.

I'd love to more about Mr. Jetplane's whole pilot thing- is he in UPT right now? What kind of planes does he want to fly?
I am not in UPT, I finished my navigation training, IFF, and am now working on my CSO upgrade (Electronic warfare officer). We will be moving this summer Goldsboro NC to start my training on the F15E.

How long has he wanted to be a pilot?
Honestly I really never had the bug, I was just bored w/managing banks and wanted to do something else. I got accepted to the AF, then was able to be accepted to track fighters/bombers, and finished by being lucky enough to go the Strike Eagle.

What's his favorite plane?
A little experimental jobber that Mrs. Jetplane’s parents friend (mike) built. I was amazed that he build the whole thing himself in his basement. It was just fun flying it, no stress.

Does he have any career goals both near and distant?
To finally finish the RTU and get mission qualified. In the future we will have to see if I get bored again and where that will take me.

FYI - Mr. Jetplane entertains the idea of running for political office, which is interesting since we don't share a lot of the same political views.

What's his favorite memory of you?
Sitting at Applebee’s w/ a busted lip, and cracking jokes
(This is a somewhat of a long story that I'll have to tell another time. But we were on vacay at my parents' condo in Ft. Myers. 1st day of a week long vacay and his actions and my drunk ass contributed to me having a busted lip. And right after he's like, you're fine let's go to Applebee's.)
In his opinion, what's the weirdest thing the Mrs. does?
Her OCD about making sure she shut the garage door and making sure she unplugged her stuff. (I will turn around in our subdivision to make sure I close the garage door. I can't handle it if I don't know the door is down.)

What is your most embarrassing moment?
I'm not easily embarrassed I usually find it hilarious, but probably when I went for a sleep walk in a hotel in Pittsburgh, without my key and clothes.

(This story is hilarious, and I have to tell it at a later time. It still makes me laugh so hard I cry. He used to be in Pittsburgh 1 week out of the month when he was managing banks. Side note - Mr. prefers to sleep in the buff, which makes the story even funnier. Oh and the story includes him having to take a ride on a elevator to the front desk to get a room key.)

What do you that most gets on the Mrs. nerves?
I pick on her from time to time.

What does she do?
Her tendency to leave things where she takes them off and not pick them up again (ie Shoes, socks, purses, and ear rings)

What is your favorite color? Blue

When would you like to welcome a Baby Jet Plane to the world?
Whenever the Mrs. can handle it, but probably in a year or two!

What is his favorite place to visit?
Home, I know it’s a crappy answer, but when your gone as much as I am it’s nice to come home and see parents, friends, nephews, grandparents, cousins, and siblings. (not particularly in that order) Luckily for me they all live in my hometown.
valentine's day
This picture is on our honeymoon. We went snorkeling and spent a day on a small island.valentine's day

This pic is from Destin. We met up with my friend Lou who got engaged the night before. We ate a fabulous dinner with them that lasted for a couple of hours, and had a great time. She's going to be getting married in ATL end of March.

valentine's day Mr. Jetplane getting in the game...

valentine's day valentine's day
I'm taking a cue from Casey at Ever Changing Life of a Military Wife and getting Mr. Jetplane in the mix here on my lil blog here.

So I thought I would totally rip off her idea, and let you all ask Mr. Jetplane some questions. Now Mr. Jetplane doesn't read my blog and doesn't quite get the whole mystic of the blogging world. But I'm going to pull him into it kicking and/or screaming I suppose.

So is there anything that you want to know about the Mr? No question too small, to weird, but we'll see what he's willing to answer.
