12 year old Georgie Sussman has put together  "The Cupcake Ward Cookbook". Sales of the cookbook raises money for the new Cupcake Ward at Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital in London.

The cookbook originally had recipes from me (I have an online cupcakery called Bunny and Boo) and my girlfriends who bake, she then made up a wishlist of celebs/cookery writers to see if they would contribute a "sweet" recipe to it -the whole thing has grown. Georgie's goal is to sell all her copies and reach her target of £15,000 - £20,000 ($25,000 - $30,000) They will ship the cookbook to the United States.

Last week, Cupcakes Take The Cake sponsored cupcakes for a fundraiser close to our heart. It was a fun spelling bee for our friend Cheryl B.  to help with medical expenses as she kicks cancer in the butt. We procured cupcakes from Lux Sugar, and there were peanut butter and jelly cupcakes as well as chocolate, red velvet and carrot cake.

Durham, North Carolina is going to get a new mobile Cupcakery named DaisyCakes, thanks to their recent Kickstarter campaign that raised $20,865. For those bakeries or budding bakeries looking to raise money using Kickstarter, check out what they've done as a positive example of garnering community support.

They write:

We've been in the process of locating and negotiating for our kitchen equipment. We are also still vigorously vetting the potential spaces for our Bakery & Cafe.
