valentine's day Pug Friday

Hello everyone...its me the bad blogger. A lot has been going on with the Jetplanes lately. We are knee deep in home renovations, Mr. Jetplane is trying to get in as much snowboarding as humanly possible, and we just got back from some time with family over the holidays.





It was great spending time with our families, but it sucked having to watch Mr. Jetplane say goodbye to people knowing and acknowledging that he's heading off to war this year. He won't see them again before he leaves, and that's heartbreaking to me. I know it is to him too, even though you would never get him to admit that.





So there's a lot to do before he leaves and it makes me crazy and sad at the same time. Please accept my apologies in advance for having to be vague about a lot of this. I have to be, even though I don't want to be.

So in honor of how I've been feeling lately...

Have a good weekend every one. We'll be hitting the slopes on Saturday and the Lowes/Home Depot and non-stop home improvement on Sunday.

valentine's day Pug Friday - Getting in the Holiday Spirit

Hello hello...is anybody out there?

Is everyone getting ready for the holidays? Thanksgiving flew by and I can't believe we're already in December.

Now that we're living in Idaho, I experiencing REAL winter. I haven't experienced a REAL winter in years. I am not prepared for this :)

P.S. Thank you all for the prayers and support for our friends. He is slowly coming out of the coma. He was taken off sedatives earlier this week. His eyes are open, but we don't believe he can see as of yet. He is reacting to his wife's voice and making movements with all his limbs.

That's the good news, the bad news is they are PCS'ing to Bethesda to be closer to family and for him to receive the rest of his treatment and therapy. They might be leaving as soon as next week if everything is in order. And course...we're in Florida for the majority of next week.

We are having dinner at their house to tonight with another couple. All of our husbands went through the B Course together in North Carolina. I am so sad to see them go but I know its for the best.

Please continue to keep them in your prayers. There is still a very long road ahead of them.

Thank you to all those that have served and continue to serve our country. We are forever in debt to you and your families.

My thoughts and prayers are going out today to all of those who are currently in harm's way fighting for freedom. Special thoughts to our fellow F15e squadron that is currently making us proud over there right now. Fly Safe Guys.

And to my favorite Fly Boy...

Proud doesn't even begin to explain my feelings about you and your decision to serve your country. Fly safe today and I can't wait for you to get home tomorrow. xoxo

valentine's day What I learned from Halloween 2010

Well yesterday was Halloween for those of you that live under a rock and weren't aware of this. Yesterday I learned a couple of things that I thought I would share with you.

1. Halloween isn't as much fun without Mr. Jetplane. He's in Vegas for work. Yes I know.

2. Lil boys still love being superheros. I'm worried the masks they are selling with the costumes make it hard for them to see. I had 3 lil boys trip on my porch.

3. Some kids are straight up RUDE. If they didn't say "Trick or Treat" I would kindly say, "Do I get a Trick or Treat?" I also gave a friendly shout, "You're Welcome!!" to a few when they walked away.

4. Just because your lil sweetie pie daughter wants to dress up like a tramp, doesn't mean you should let her.....ummm k.

5. I love when parents dress up with their kids, except when those parents decide to wear scary clown masks like they are from the movie "It". Seriously people...I still have nightmares from watching that movie when I was a kid.

6. If the lights are off that means don't come knock on my door. Its 9pm people, you and your 7 kids (most of which looked under 6 yrs old) do not need to be out running the streets at 9pm.

7. You don't need to ring my doorbell 3 times, I'm not deaf and hear it on the 1st ring.

8. If you can drive yourself, you're too old to be trick or treating.

Wow...did I just become a old bittie....

I hope everyone had a great Halloween.

Update: Its come to my attention that I may have offended hearing impaired people by my "I'm not deaf" comment. If so, I hope you would understand that was not my intention. I also understand lil ones like to ring the doorbell, its the "slightly bigger" kids that seemed to be the problem.

valentine's day Proud to be an American

I've always loved the 4th of July. The cookouts, the fireworks, and the day off of course... But to be completely honest with you, before the military became part of my life, I saw this day as a day to enjoy a day off work, to enjoy the sun, some beer, some hotdogs, and fireworks.

It has a much deeper meaning to me now... Take the time to enjoy the day, but take a moment to pause a reflect and thank all the men and women that gave and continue to give the ultimate sacrifice for our independence.

valentine's day Notice Something Different About Me?

Yes this lil blog has gotten quite a face lift, its still a work in progress...so please bear with me if not all the links are working properly. I'll talk more about the 'new look' later this week...

On a much different note....We got back from Vegas last night, many stories to tell about loathing American Airlines, loving Chelsea Handler, and meeting a great fellow blogger.

Let's us say one fellow blogger got to meet the Jetplanes in all our drunk glory. Oh yeah! Hot mess alert...

Oh and on even bigger news...TODAY is the last day of my 20s....we pause for a moment of silence...

Today we honor all for those that have fought and died for our great country. And today we honor all of those that are still fighting for our great country.

I might be a lil partial to one military man in particular....of course...Mr. Jetplane!!

valentine's day AHHH Hell Yeah!!

Its been a crazy ass time for the Jetplanes for the past couple of months. Between Mr's flight school, my mother's surgery, his family matters, my work, painting the house, tending to 2 crazy ass dogs....we need a lil time to ourselves.

And this weekend (and Monday since I'm taking it off) we're heading to CHARLESTON, SC!!!!

I don't know if I have been this excited in such a long time... We got good deal on a hotel in the Historic area and I've already booked a valentine's day brunch at Magnolias thanks to the help of Grits.

Can't wait!!!

valentine's day Air Kisses to You All..

Thank you for the kind comments and emails I got yesterday from my 2010 post. I really appreciate it.

I know it goes without saying, but it feels soooo good to know you're not the only one out there that is suffering from the same issues. Growing up is hard, our parents were right...enjoy your youth, your carefree misspent youth...it goes by way too quickly.

So THANK YOU to all you wonderful ladies, I really appreciate each and everyone of you.

Now with that out of the way... This arrived with Mr. Jetplane when he came back from Illinois on Sunday. Its my Christmas gift from his dad and step-mom. I knew I was getting it since I specifically asked for it.

I guess its kinda funny for me to ask for a cookbook from his family since, his mother, stepmother, sister, and sister-in-law, all don't really cook. When Mr. and I started dating I asked him what his favorite meal was, because I would cook it later that weekend. He told me Hamburger Helper....yeah ladies that's what I was dealing with.

But I digress, the cookbook is very interesting. Its not just a cookbook, it let's you into Ree's and Marlboro Man's lives. When Mr gave it to me, I sat in the chair and read the whole thing that night, I've never 'read' a cookbook.

I'm excited to get to cooking...Mr. Jetplane loves all the food I've made from her blog. Mr. Jetplane is a meat and potatoes type of guy, but he will eat (and like) other types of food.

Mr. Jetplane left this morning to visit family in Illinois for a week. Another NYE without him...we've only spent 2 of them together :(

I couldn't take time off from work, since I took 2 weeks off around my mother's surgery.

I miss him already and I may (or may not) being eating Oreos this morning while working..yes I have to work this week...BOO.

I'll be back later on with the Jetplanes Holiday...

I unfortunately am not a fan of Christmas music. I do love classic, church Christmas music, but I can't stand all the rest of it. Sorry to disappoint you all. But I do have 2 favorites...

#1. All I Want for Christmas by the one and only Mariah


I love this song and it automatically makes me want to watch Love Actually.

#2 The Christmas Song by Alvin and the Chipmunks

This song reminds me of my Grandmother's house. We would like to listen to this on her huge record player/sound system. I also sing this song to get on Mr. Jetplane's nerves... hahaha

The Jetplanes have had several heated discussions on something that is very near and dear to us...

MOVIES!!!

When a new movie comes out the Jetplanes hunkered down on their sides and start to make deals about what movie they will see...

Both sides have conferred with our own independent counsels and have came to a nice compromise...

I am willing to watch this - (only in 3D)

if he will go with me to watch THIS!!

Lord help us when we have to pick baby names (which isn't happening right now)...

valentine's day All our PRETTY presents under the tree..

valentine's day Well not exactly! Since the Jetplanes are staying home in NC this year, we'll be away from all our family...:( But that means the UPS man (and postwoman) and I are getting acquainted again..oh how I have missed him..and he me I'm sure.

So these are some of the presents that we have receive thus far...Yes I know that is a box with an office chair, its for Mr. Jetplane from my parents. He has a horrible one upstairs in his man cave. I won't let him open any of them, even the ones from his mother, which he picked out.

I'm pretty sure one or more of the boxes have doggie treats in them the way Milo was interested in them...

Can't believe Christmas is Friday!! I wish we had our gas hooked up so we could have a fire in the fireplace on Christmas Eve...Yeah for our 1st Christmas in our first home... Last year Mr. Jetplane had knee surgery in Texas on 12/23 and I spent the next week taking care of him...this Christmas will be much better.

Hey its me...Mrs. Jetplane. The bad lil blogger that's been too busy to blog. Well it appears we will be going to another couple's house for Christmas Eve and I need to bring 2 dishes to their house. We're having 'heavy' appetizers.

valentine's day Pug Friday - Home Sweet Home Edition

Happy Pug Friday to you all... I hope this Friday morning is treating everyone well, especially all you Twi-Hards that stayed up late last night (this morning) to watch New Moon.

I'll admit even though I enjoy being well rested, I am alittle jealous. The Jetplanes are going to a 9pm viewing tonight!! (FYI- I got Mr to read all of the books. He was at T38 training at the time, so he was a little bored. Its good because we can talk about everything, even though he didn't 'love' the books). I'll be totally honest though, New Moon was my LEAST favorite, I actually had to force myself to read it. Bella whined WAY TOO MUCH. But I need to see the movie either way.

Anyway...moving on....

Today's Pug Friday is dedicated to my own lil hunk of pug Milo. You see, I'm leaving (on a jet plane) tomorrow morning to be with my family. My mother is having her reconstructive surgery on Monday and will be in the hospital the entire week of Thanksgiving. The following week I will be staying at my parents' house, helping her recover. Unfortunately, Mr. Jetplane has class and can't take leave. So he'll stay with the boys...and I miss them greatly!!!

So here's to my lil hunk of loving Milo...I'll miss my cuddle buddy...
