valentine's day What I learned from Halloween 2010

Well yesterday was Halloween for those of you that live under a rock and weren't aware of this. Yesterday I learned a couple of things that I thought I would share with you.

1. Halloween isn't as much fun without Mr. Jetplane. He's in Vegas for work. Yes I know.

2. Lil boys still love being superheros. I'm worried the masks they are selling with the costumes make it hard for them to see. I had 3 lil boys trip on my porch.

3. Some kids are straight up RUDE. If they didn't say "Trick or Treat" I would kindly say, "Do I get a Trick or Treat?" I also gave a friendly shout, "You're Welcome!!" to a few when they walked away.

4. Just because your lil sweetie pie daughter wants to dress up like a tramp, doesn't mean you should let her.....ummm k.

5. I love when parents dress up with their kids, except when those parents decide to wear scary clown masks like they are from the movie "It". Seriously people...I still have nightmares from watching that movie when I was a kid.

6. If the lights are off that means don't come knock on my door. Its 9pm people, you and your 7 kids (most of which looked under 6 yrs old) do not need to be out running the streets at 9pm.

7. You don't need to ring my doorbell 3 times, I'm not deaf and hear it on the 1st ring.

8. If you can drive yourself, you're too old to be trick or treating.

Wow...did I just become a old bittie....

I hope everyone had a great Halloween.

Update: Its come to my attention that I may have offended hearing impaired people by my "I'm not deaf" comment. If so, I hope you would understand that was not my intention. I also understand lil ones like to ring the doorbell, its the "slightly bigger" kids that seemed to be the problem.

valentine's day Happy Earth Day

Is it bad that this is the 1st thing that comes to mind...

valentine's day What's the Deal???

Can someone please explain to me the interest in taking naked pictures of yourself? Especially when you are a teenager and a 'famous' teenager at that?

I also don't get the sexy looks that teenagers (including Miley) give the camera and then post these ridiculous pictures. I've seen my cousin's facebook page, she's 17...I don't get it.

But HEY!!! Miss High School Musical girl... this one's for you... seriously girl this is the 2nd time in under a year...keep your damn clothes on, or at least don't take pictures of yourself...

HomeGirl got called out! Too freaking funny!! Hey kids...and adults for that matter... don't email people pictures of yourself naked...nothing good could ever come from that.

Crazy Story- At my previous job we fired a guy that I supervised. I wanted him gone for months but my boss wouldn't fire him. Finally he did some very bad things and we got his ass canned. But whatever... I ended up having access to his inbox so I could monitor incoming emails from clients since he wasn't working with us any longer. I had to go through his inbox to ensure that he had followed up with all his work since he was doing a poor job in his day to day activity.

Guess what I found on his computer.... Emails from some girl who sent him naked pictures of herself. And guess what this scumbag had done.. He emailed those pictures to some of the other guys at work...I was completely and utterly disgusted. I'm so glad we was finally fired...

Take that as a warning girls...send naked pics of yourself...they take on a life of their own and guys will send them to other people... whether your famous now or not...

valentine's day Men=Boys

Men and boys are truly one in the same. Boys are supposed to grow into men, but men somehow are always boys... How is that possible?

I finally caught up on most of my miss Oprah's from the past week, and I got to watch the teen sex shows...OMG. I think I about spit out my Crystal Light Pink Lemonade that I was enjoying.

Thoughts?

2 14 yr olds actually believed that they were ready for sex, yeah you read that correctly. Its shocking that after dating for 3 months and being totally like, in love, they were for their 1st times. Ummm... you're 14 dears, you know NOTHING. While I don't believe in all the tactics that have been discussed in these past few shows I do agree with a couple things.

1. Have a open line of communication with your child
2. Explain to them what sex is and how it affects not only your body, but your mind and soul
3. Help the child take ownership of their body, make them respect it and treasure it
4. Ask them the important questions and make them think about consequences (really think about them)

One interesting fact that was discussed is that a person's frontal lobe is not fully developed until around the age of 21. The frontal lobe controls impulses and judgement. This can explain a lot, or at least it did to me.

The funniest part was when the 2 kids were asked how long do they think this relationship would last after they had sex... They both said a LONG time... okay kids define LONG.

The Boy - 6 months to a year, I mean come on its High School

The Girl - there is no expiration date

Yeah... that's pretty much the mind of a high school (college and/or any) boy works...

What did you all think about the show?

valentine's day Kids today are idiots...

It makes me sick to my stomach to read statistics showing that around 40% of teens think that Rhianna deserved to get beat up and that this type of violence is 'normal' in a relationship. That 40% includes girls.

Excuse me... what the hell are you talking about?

I watched Oprah's special about this yesterday. I wanted to physically shake the girl that thought Rhianna deserved it because its alleged that she hit Chris Brown. So what if she did slap him once or twice, he could have subdued her, kicked her out of the car, or whatever. Beating the crap out of her where is has bruises all over, was not called for or legal for that matter.

And now she's back with him... what does this say. It saddens me and scares me that kids think its ok.

While I have never been physically abused by a boyfriend, I did date one that was extremely controlling and tried to tell me that I was nothing without him. Luckily, he dumped me because I didn't adhere to his 'rules' the way I was suppose to. The next girl he dated (whom he cheated on me with, who was supposed to have been my friend) it was rumored that he did hit her. I can see him doing that, he had a very bad temper. Oh... and this was all during my sophomore year of high school. I count myself as lucky to get out of that relationship.

I really think it leads to parents taking a more active role in their children's lives. These poor girls have low esteem and think at some level they deserve this. Love doesn't hurt and it doesn't leave bruises. If they'll hit you once, they will hit you again. Don't fool yourself. Be Smart.

valentine's day Mrs. Jetplane loves...

valentine's day valentine's day
I recently found Nella Designs on Etsy. How cute are these? I'm thinking about doing the thumb print one below for someone's upcoming wedding... valentine's day I adore these for a child's bedroom or maybe even one for my hypothetical office when we move to NC. valentine's day

valentine's day You can customized the color and you can even pick out certain kiddos for the prints. They are very reasonably priced and too cute for words.

valentine's day Question for the peanut gallery...

As I have said, people all around me are getting pregnant but Mrs. Jetplane is not ready to add her name to the list just yet.

Well, yesterday I found out a co-worker's teenage daughter is pregnant. To add to this drama, this girl was previously pregnant last year but lost the baby. I was shocked to hear she was pregnant again and past the 1st trimester. My co-worker told me that her daughter thinks its this status thing, and all her friends are pregnant.

The first words out of my mouth were, "She needs to go to therapy. She is looking for some form of unconditional love and thinks its going to come from a child. She's 16 and should never had been ready to consider getting pregnant again. A miscarriage can be a life altering situation, and I can guarantee she never dealt with that. And a child is going to take much more love than they give at this point. She is too young to be thinking rationally at this point."

Her mother just said, "She won't go. I put her on the pill and she didn't take them. I think she wanted to get pregnant."

I'm totally shocked and I feel bad for my co-worker. I'm not saying whether or not she should have kept the baby, or if she should have taken the birth control. I'm asking... what is wrong with kids today to think that having babies in high school is something 'cool'?

Its not cool, and what kind of warped sense of reality are you idiots living in?

I was the child of a young mother. I was born before my mom's 20th birthday and my parents got married because of me. This in and of itself was my own personal birth control. Its the reason that I never wanted to get married before 25 and probably why I'm not ready to have kids. My mother was married, divorced, with 2 kids at 25. Why would anyone seek that life out?

I think its part society, but more importantly its how you raise your children. I was raised to always want more for myself... education, good paying job, etc. And I wanted this independent of a man. I always desired to be completely self sufficient. I worry these young girls have no self esteem, horrible self image, and will never overcome these issues...

Thoughts?

valentine's day Follow Up on My Craziness

I'm glad I'm not the only crazy lady out their shopping for her hypothetical children. Well, since I'm shown you my hypothetical "boy" nursery, some have asked what about a girl...

Well, sister that's a whole other ball of wax all together. I haven't really decided, there are so many options that I absolutely adore. But I really love(d) the pink monkey set from PB Kids. My heart sank when I saw it on clearance and all sold out. You see Mr. Jetplane and I call each other monkey, and we also call Milo monkey sometimes. Also we call our friend Mandy's lil girl a spider monkey. Wow, we're some monkey loving fools aren't we?

So, while I'm not in general a fan of overwhelming pink, this spoke to me. Actually it screamed at me. valentine's day

valentine's day I adore the chair, which you can see the arm of in this picture. I wouldn't go all bananas (get it bananas, monkey....) and put monkeys everywhere, but I just love this. I would do the bedding, chair, but probably not the drapes. I wouldn't paint the walls all pink either, its a little pepto for me and most definitely Mr. Jetplane. (oh and I wouldn't paint a monkey on the wall, maybe a light stripe)

But there you go, our hypothetical children and their hypothetical PB nursery. Now I need a hypothetical fortune to buy all this junk...
