valentine's day Pretty individualized party guest cupcake toppers
I recently treated myself to a glue gun, I feel like a real crafter now, so I used this to stick cocktail sticks to the back of the figures with a little piece of plain paper over the top, to hide the glue.
You can't really tell from the picture but the birthday girl's dress had gold spots.

valentine's day Cupcake fondue tutorial by Amanda of Bake It Pretty!
3. Pour frosting into the fondue pot. There’s really no need to heat the mixture, but you can keep a small tea light or very low flame underneath just for looks! Display sprinkles and toppings in small ramekins or portion cups and arrange around the fondue pot. Skewer cupcakes in the side and dip the top half into the fondue, then flip the cupcake over and the frosting will drip nicely down the sides. Sprinkle liberally with your favorite toppings.
Wow wow wow wow wow is all I have to say. This sounds so fun!

valentine's day Nutcracker cupcakes by Jeanne Benedict
She writes:
What fun I had making an army of Nutcracker Cupcakes ready to take on the Mouse King and all others in the famed Christmastime tale! Nutcrackers used to be so expensive, and now it seems that just about every stylish budget store (read Target) has a collection of them sporting a variety of themes. My daughter has a hippie nutcracker, mountain climber, and a 2-foot tall traditional nutcracker soldier, which is what I used to make these fabulous Christmas Cupcakes. Imagine these cupcakes as the centerpiece of a Nutcracker theme party on Christmas Eve!

....it took a little time to do the detail....but it was fun...and candy melts are great because you can do them ahead of time and store them for when you need them....did these a couple nights ago....but then got another idea.....an awful idea....a wonderful, awful idea....!
....same cupcake and icing (tinted grinch green..which btw is some kelly green to get a nice light green then add canary yellow until you get the chartreusy color)....with his mean yellow eyes and a santie hat.....
valentine's day Poinsettia cupcakes
So direct from Germany, here are some of her poinsettia cupcakes - click through to see them all! You can also follow her @ofamadhausfrau on Twitter.
Lora writes:
The shapes I cut out freehand using a knife and then used it to create the indentations on the leaves and petals. I used 4 green leaves and 6 petals for each of the Poinsettias, pressing then together in the middle. Using the yellow fondant, I rolled a few tiny balls and pressed them n the middle.
I glittered them with red, green and gold disco and hologram dusts by dipping a small paintbrush into vodka and brushing on the glitter.
Every other cupcake was adorned with a fondant poinsettia. I swirled the frosting on the non flowered ones and once the icing hardened a bit, brushed on gold hologram dust.

valentine's day Mahjong cupcakes
....the tiles are fondant....not my fav to work with.....but had some leftover and it really worked out for making the tiles.....(btw-don't know how people dye their own fondant...because that must take for days to do to get a really deep color...not fun)....anyway....added a smidge of kelly green food gel to get the nice light green color...it actually matched the color of the tiles really well.....
....the designs were piped with royal icing....thick enough to pipe to keep the design without running...it was a little too thick though and it was hard to pipe through my smallest diameter tip....so it was a little thicker design than i wanted....think it was a wilton #2....
valentine's day Steampunk vegan chocolate cupcakes with top hats, goggles, gears and Tootsie Roll modeling chocolate
From Bakingdom, which you really should check out to see these cupcakes in all their glory, and learn about the detail that went into making them:
I know it probably made sense to do something holiday themed, but I decided to make steampunk themed cupcakes, because...well...I wanted to! I love steampunk stuff, and there really aren't a whole lot of steampunk themed cupcakes out there, but also because the brown color wouldn't be much of a hindrance with them. I kept things relatively simple with just an adorable top hat and goggles, accented with little golden gears. Is it wrong of me to say that I freaking love how they turned out?! Seriously, I just think they're so cute! Plus, they were shockingly fast, once I figured out just what I wanted to do!
By the way, those perfectly steampunked cupcake cups came from (where else?) Bake It Pretty! I was a little worried at first that they would be too tough to get the cupcakes out of, but they peeled away beautifully (and in one piece)! Plus, you don't need a muffin pan to use them! Just space them evenly on a rimmed baking sheet, fill them with two tablespoons of your favorite cupcake or muffin batter, and bake normally! Aren't they the cutest?!
